Busso’s Death: I Lost A Friend Like A Brother – Ex Oyo Sports Commissioner

The immediate past Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Oyo State Mr. Abayomi Oke has lamented that the death of a former Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club Mr. Gbolagade Busari has robbed him of “a friend like a brother”.

Mr. Busari (fondly called Busso by friends and associates) died on the morning of Monday 30th of November 2020 at the University College Hospital Ibadan, a couple of days after returning to Nigeria from the U.S.

In a condolence composition he wrote to mourn the late 3SC boss, Mr. Oke said the day Busari died would be one of the saddest days of his life.

“Monday 30th of November 2020 will always be a day I will not want to remember. But I can’t forget it, because it was one of the saddest days of my life. It was a day I lost a person dear to my heart. It was a day Death took away from me a friend like a brother”, Oke mourned.

While expressing his grief at the demise of his late associate, the former Sports Commissioner recalled with sadness the dreams and good times he shared with the deceased, working together with him to bring better days for sports and politics in Oyo state.

“Before Busso left for eternity, we dreamt together, planned together as sports administrators to reposition 3SC. And also as politicians, we worked together as members of an indivisible bloc in APC”, he recalled with nostalgia.

The lawyer turned politician commiserated with the family of the late politician and sports administrator as well as with 3SC and the All Progressive Congress over the demise of Gbolagade Busari.

Oke prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed former 3SC Chairman who has been buried on Monday afternoon at his Orogun Ibadan residence in accordance with Islamic rites.
