The decisive moment came just before halftime when Broad City capitalised on a well-worked set piece. Captain Ahmed Adesanu delivered a dangerous cross into the box, which was met by fullback Solomon Agbalaka.
His headed effort in the 42nd minute proved enough to separate both sides, marking his first goal of the tournament and Broad City’s eighth overall in the competition.
Klassisch FA, who had topped Group A unbeaten with two wins and a draw, responded strongly in the second half, pushing forward in search of an equaliser.
However, Broad City’s defensive discipline and composure under pressure ensured they held firm to secure the title.
Broad City’s triumph caps an impressive campaign, having earlier finished top of Group B on goal difference ahead of Ikorodu City.
Their consistency and tactical execution throughout the tournament ultimately proved decisive as they claimed the fifth edition of the Jagaban Cup, succeeding 2025 winners SGFC Athletics.
In the third-place playoff played earlier in the day, FC Bethel Sporting defeated Ikorodu City 4–3 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regulation time.
The match hero was Bethel’s goalkeeper Uche Stephen, who delivered a standout performance by saving three penalties—one during normal time and two in the shootout—to secure the podium finish for his side.
The 2026 edition of the Jagaban Cup once again highlighted the depth of grassroots football talent in Lagos, providing a competitive platform for emerging players to showcase their abilities.
Broad City FC’s victory not only underlines their quality but also reinforces the tournament’s growing reputation as a breeding ground for future stars.
