LA Knights star Jimmie Akinsola has issued a confident challenge to future opponents after the team completed an unbeaten run in the league, finishing the regular season with a 36–19 victory over the Greenbacks. The win secured their top spot on the table and extended their flawless record from preseason through the main season.
“First of all, I want to say thank you to the Almighty God for at least keeping my team together,” Akinsola told Sports247. “We have solid chemistry and face every game like it’s our final.”

Despite their dominance so far, Akinsola emphasized that the mission isn’t over until the team lifts the trophy. “We’ve gone through the season unbeaten, but that stands for nothing until you win the entire trophy,” he said. “We have three more games—two semifinals and the final. Our plan is to be there and lift the trophy.”
Akinsola also praised the growing visibility of flag football in Nigeria, especially with its inclusion as a demonstration sport at the upcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State. “One of the exciting factors of this season is the fact that, now, flag football is increasing its coverage around Nigeria and not just within Nigeria but internationally as well.
The sports festival is happening this year, and of course, we’re excited that we’re going to have an opportunity to showcase our very loving sports to the rest of the world. The excitement is at a fever pitch. We’re coming to Ogun State to shine and show more Nigerians what this sport is about,” he said.
With a clear focus and hunger for success, Akinsola summed up the LA Knights’ mindset in one defiant message: “Our goal is to win the trophy. Whatever it takes, we’re going to do it. We didn’t plan to go unbeaten, but here we are. So whoever it is—bring it on.”
