Coach of Dreamstar ladies, coach Anya Ugochi has resigned her post as head coach of the team despite leading the team to their first win of the Nigeria Women Football League in Matchday four.

The coach was excited after the win before Covid break but has since lamented the poor managerial operations in the club which has led to her resigning.

“The management does not carry me along and does not respect my opinions, so I resigned,” she told Sports247.

Coach Anya revealed that she was not being paid a salary rather, she was placed on monthly stipends right from when she arrived as the assistant coach. She, however, resumed the place of the head coach, after coach Bankole, the former head coach resigned and she was still being paid the allowance of the assistant coach.

“When I requested for the contract that defines my position as the head coach, he went and wrote me that my position was acting head coach, 20k monthly allowance which I am yet to collect for January. When the club relocated to Ejigbo, their family house, he did not think of how I could be meeting up with training. I spent all my money on transport just because I want to continue. But since he has shown that am on my own, I called it a quit,” she added.

“I didn’t pick my advanced certificate and CAF C license that am using to work for him from the gutter, I obtained them with big money and hard work so I will not use it for free,” she concluded.

The NWFL gets back to action on February 10, 2021, after the Covid break and Dreamstar Ladies with just one win in four games will have to shop for a new coach before he resumption of the league.
