The trials, scheduled to run until Friday, March 6, 2026, will be staged at the Brai Ayonote Boxing Complex, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, under the auspices of the Nigeria Boxing Federation.

According to the Federation, all participating boxers are required to complete the official registration form circulated by the NBF General Secretary, Mrs. Vivian Azimene, and attach a recent passport photograph.

The completed form must be submitted upon arrival at the venue alongside a non-refundable registration fee of ₦10,000.

The registration form captures key personal and competitive details, including the boxer’s full name, date and place of birth, gender, weight class, height, state and local government area, contact information, current and former clubs or institutions represented, position held, and blood group.

Registration Guidelines

Registration is strictly on a team basis, with boxers expected to register through states, clubs, or institutions duly affiliated with the Nigeria Boxing Federation. Individual registrations will not be accepted.

Registration has already commenced and will officially close on the first day of the tournament.

No entries will be processed after the deadline. Each team is required to make a single consolidated payment covering all its registered boxers.

For instance, a team registering 20 boxers is expected to pay ₦200,000. Payments will be made to the NBF Assistant Secretary’s designated bank account upon arrival, with proof of payment to be presented to the Federation.

All boxers are also mandated to present their official record books. Athletes without record books will have the opportunity to purchase one at the venue.

The National Open Trials will be contested across ten weight divisions, comprising five male and five female categories.

Men’s divisions are 55kg, 65kg, 70kg, 80kg, and 90kg, while the women’s categories include 51kg, 57kg, 65kg, 70kg, and over 70kg.

The trials will serve as a key selection platform for Nigeria’s preparations toward the Commonwealth Games, with both home-based and foreign-based boxers expected to compete.

The Nigeria Boxing Federation has wished all participating athletes the best of luck as they vie for national honours and international selection.
