BOTCHED MATCH: REFEREES READY FOR RANGERS/INSURANCE TIE THURSDAY

After the failure of the re-scheduled match day 8 fixture between old rivals, Bendel Insurance F.C of Benin and Rangers International F.C of Enugu to see the light of the day due to non availability of match officials, the league organizers, LMC, has fixed Thursday, April 25, 2019, for the game, sports247.ng learns.

The match is fixed for the football pitch of UNIBEN sports complex, Ugbowo, Benin city with kickoff slated for 4.00 pm.

According to the Media Director Flying Antelopes, Nobert Okolie, he said Coach Gbenga Ogunbote would have preferred the match to have held on Wednesday. In his words, “No doubt, we are ready for the match but it would have been better if we had taken the game as earlier scheduled.”

Team Manager of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku said on the botched match and the upcoming fixture, “Our league can always get better but we are not the only ones in this kind of things as they sometimes happen in other climes. We are set for the match and our target remains the same as we remain humble in the successes thus far.”

It would be recalled that referees selected for this encounter failed to show up for the fixture over alleged threats from supporters of the ‘Benin Arsenals’ to the arbiters from previous league games in Benin City.
