Bolaji recently rose to the top of the global rankings following her silver medal finish at the World Para Badminton Championship, becoming the first Nigerian to attain the number one spot in her category. However, the reigning African champion says there is little room for distraction.

“I haven’t really celebrated yet,” Bolaji admitted. “I’ve been training and preparing for the next championship in Spain.”

The Nigerian star is aiming to defend her title in Spain for the third consecutive time, a feat that would further solidify her dominance in the SL3 division.

“Maintaining the number one position is even harder than getting there,” she said. “I want to stay consistent and keep improving.”

Bolaji emphasized that reaching the summit of the rankings comes with added responsibility and expectation.

“When you are number one, everyone wants to beat you. That means I have to work even harder,” she explained.

Despite the pressure, the para-badminton ace remains confident in her preparation and mindset.

“I trust my training, my team, and the support I have. That keeps me grounded,” she added.

Bolaji also expressed gratitude for the backing she has received from sponsors and supporters, acknowledging their role in her rise.

“The support system around me has been incredible. I’m grateful for everyone who believes in me,” she noted.

As she prepares for Spain, Bolaji’s immediate goal is clear.

“The target is simple — win again and stay on top,” she concluded.

Her relentless focus underscores the mentality required not just to reach the top of the world rankings, but to remain there.
