Nigerian quarter-miler Blessing Akintoye produced a commanding performance to win the Women’s 400m title at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Akintoye dominated the final, crossing the line in 52.87 seconds to secure the gold medal ahead of Melanie Roland, who finished second in 53.36s, while Kennedi Cline claimed third place with a time of 53.98s.
The victory marks Akintoye’s first NCAA title, representing a significant improvement from her performance at the same championship in 2025, where she finished seventh in the final.
Her dominant display highlights the steady progress she has made over the past year, establishing herself as one of the standout Nigerian athletes competing in the U.S. collegiate track circuit.
With the indoor season concluding on a high note, Akintoye will now turn her attention to the outdoor campaign as she continues to build momentum in her promising athletics career.
