For many university students, academic deadlines are demanding enough. But for LASU Epe League footballer Ojele, balancing engineering studies with competitive football has meant navigating injuries, exhausting training sessions and academic pressure while pursuing success on the pitch.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sports247, the engineering student reflected on four seasons of university football, revealing how discipline, sacrifice and determination helped him manage two demanding responsibilities.

Ojele began his league journey as a fresher, when his game relied heavily on running and physical effort. Over time, he developed into a more experienced player and team leader.
However, his growth came with challenges beyond football.
He admitted that academic pressure sometimes affected his performances, particularly when demanding school schedules collided with training and competitive fixtures.
Rather than abandoning football during difficult periods, Ojele found comfort in the sport, describing it as an escape from academic stress.
The balance was not always easy.
He recalled sacrificing personal time and comfort to attend training sessions, sometimes under harsh conditions, while also managing injuries alongside his studies.
Despite these difficulties, Ojele maintained that consistency and discipline remained central to his development.
His commitment eventually contributed to one of his proudest achievements: winning the LASU Champions League while representing the Faculty of Engineering.
The victory was particularly meaningful because it came during his final year, marking a memorable conclusion to an important chapter of his university football journey.
Beyond the trophy, Ojele believes football has taught him lessons that extend into everyday life.
He identified patience, teamwork and the ability to recover from failure as important qualities developed through his experiences on the pitch.
Away from football, he describes himself as calm and observant, with a strong commitment to his academic responsibilities.
Looking ahead, Ojele intends to pursue professional growth in engineering while remaining involved in football.
Although he hopes to continue playing at local and corporate levels, he also retains ambitions of competing internationally.
For Ojele, university football has been more than a sporting experience.
It has been a test of how much one student can sacrifice while refusing to give up either his education or his passion.
