Beach Volleyball Coach John Iwerima Reveals Target For U18 Duo To Gain Experience Ahead Of Youth Olympics

Nigeria’s beach volleyball national team’s coach, John Iwerima has disclosed that the country’s players at this year’s African U18 Girls’ Developmental Cup will use the competittion in Saly, Senegal to gain international experience ahead of thier outing at the Youth Olympic Games.

Sports247 reports that Iwerima made the revelation while speaking against the backdrop of the departure of Joy Lawrence and Ifechukwu Odoh to compete in the African championship, which is scheduled to take place from Saturday until next Friday, August 14th.

While affirming that the competition will serve as part of their preparations for the Youth Olympics, Iwerima assured that both players are ready to give their best, as they had undergone an intensive training programme in camp and they are determined to represent the country well in Senegal.

The ex-international also commended Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission for its efforts in development and promotion of the game, with a view that their investment in youths will help to discover and nurture more talented players capable of competing at the highest level.

Iwerima added, “Our target is to make Nigeria proud and gain valuable experience that will help us at the Youth Olympic Games. We want the players to compete strongly, learn from every match and continue to improve

“The players are in high spirits and have prepared very well for this competition. They have undergone an intensive training programme in camp, and we are confident that they will give a good account of themselves.”
