Bayelsa Queens Midfielder Rose Ekong Seals Move To Egyptian Side Arab Contractors

Nigeria international and former Bayelsa Queens star Rose Ekong has completed a transfer to Egyptian Women’s League club Arab Contractors, following a standout season in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

Rose Ekong played a key role in Bayelsa Queens’ 2024/2025 title-winning campaign, helping the Prosperity Girls clinch their sixth league crown after an unbeaten run in the regular season and a dominant Super Six playoff performance in Ikenne.

The dynamic midfielder was instrumental throughout the season, including a notable goal against Adamawa Queens, as Bayelsa finished top of the league under coach Whyte Ogbonda.

Her move to Arab Contractors marks her first professional venture outside Nigeria and adds to the growing list of Nigerian talents heading to North African leagues. Ekong is expected to bolster the midfield for the Cairo-based side as they push for domestic and continental success.

Details of the deal were not disclosed, but sources close to the player confirmed the move was finalized earlier this week. She is expected to join up with her new teammates before the start of the Egyptian Women’s League season later this month.

Ekong’s transfer is seen as a step forward in her career and a boost for Arab Contractors, who are investing in top African talent to strengthen their squad.
