Bayelsa Queens Edges Closer To Super 6 Glory

Two quick second half goals from Monday Gift was all Bayelsa Queens needed to beat Edo Queens in Matchday 3 of the NWFL Super 6 encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City.

The first half of the game was a very close encounter and the two teams found chances very hard to come by as both defences gave a good account of themselves.

The Yenagoa based side came out hungrier as they took the lead in the 47th minutes of the game through Monday Gift when she beats her maker to score her 5th goal of the competition and 10th of the NWFL Season.

The Prosperity Girls wasted no time in getting their second when Monday Gift finished off a Joy Jerry’s through pass to make it 2-0 in the 57th minutes of the game. Making it 6 goals in 3 matches.

That goal woke up The Edo Queens players as they dominated the remainder of the game and were rewarded in the 72nd minutes when Midfielder Esther Onyenezide shot went in to make 2-1, much to the excitement of the home fans.

But that goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation goal as Bayelsa Queens Goalkeeper Bawou Gabrielle kept out the home team efforts.

Bayelsa Queens will take on Delta Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium by 10am tomorrow, while Edo Queens will take on Naija Ratels at the University of Benin Sports Complex by 12 Noon and the last game for tomorrow is between Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium by 4pm.
