Yenagoa, Nigeria – The Commissioner for Sports Development in Bayelsa State, Honourable Daniel Igali, has charged Team Bayelsa to uphold the state’s rising profile in Nigerian sports as they depart for the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Sending his goodwill message on Friday, Igali encouraged the athletes to build on the state’s impressive showing at the last edition in Asaba, Delta State, where Bayelsa finished second overall.

“You’re carrying the hopes and aspirations of Bayelsa,” Igali said during a farewell address. “The governor is optimistic and fully behind you.
We expect a strong performance that will make our state proud.”
The Bayelsa delegation, led by the Director of Sports, Sir Braveman Wodi, departed Yenagoa brimming with confidence and determination.
Igali acknowledged that while some athletes are making their debut, the festival presents a golden opportunity to shine.
He also urged the team to remain disciplined and continue to serve as worthy ambassadors of Bayelsa State.
Bayelsa’s strong presence in national sports has made it a household name, and expectations are high for another podium finish in Ogun.
