The hosts were forced to rally after an early setback, as Plateau United took the lead in the 5th minute through Temitope Vincent, silencing the home crowd and putting early pressure on the Maliya Boys.

Barau FC, however, responded with composure and growing authority.

Their persistence paid off in the 38th minute when Henry Ezeonye struck the equaliser, opening his goal account for the club and restoring parity before the break.

The second half saw both sides battle intensely, with chances at a premium as Plateau United sought to protect their point and Barau pushed for a winner.

The decisive moment arrived late in the game when substitute Stanley Oganbor made an immediate impact, firing home the winning goal in the 87th minute to spark celebrations inside the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The victory marks Barau FC’s ninth win of the season and further underlines their steady progress in their first-ever NPFL campaign.

After 28 matches, the Kano-based side now sit on 37 points, having recorded 10 draws and nine defeats, a return that places them safely in the top half of the table.

With their survival hopes firmly boosted and confidence growing, Barau FC will look to build on this momentum as the league enters its decisive phase.
