Banyana Ready To Confront Hostile Crowd In Abuja – Coach Ellis

South Africa’s women national team, Banyana Banyana are ready to defy a hostile crowd when they tango Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Friday.

Both sides will do battle at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja in the first leg of the final qualifier for the 2024 Olympic Games, and Banyana’s coach, Desiree Ellis is staying confident for a good result.

She admitted that the crowd in Abuja is bound to be huge and partisan for the home team, but she is upbeat about her team’s chances.

The current African best coach of the year believes her wards will be up to the task of defying all odds to get a decent result, saying they are used to playing away in front of large hostile fans.

Ellis boasted, “The stadium will be packed out, but our players are used to playing against an away crowd. We will play as a group and stay positive. That’s what we are going to do.

“We can not come here to drop the ball now. It’s important that we get a good result here, because getting back home, the pressure will be on us.

“We want to take a little pressure off us. As much as we want to win, they also want to win. That’s what will make the game very interesting.”
