Bam Adebayo’s Historic 83 Points Come Under Focus In NBA TV Show

Miami Heat of USA centre, Bam Adebayo continues hogging all headlines and talking points in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as his massive haul of 83 points in a single game was the major focus on a TV show.

Sports247 gathered that, while Adebayo continues basking in the euphoria of his emergence as the second highest scoring player in a single NBA game, he got two more spotlights added to his name during ‘The Big Number’ show.

The Nigerian-born ace became the talking point for Tom Haberstroh and Dan Devine, as they marvelled over how Adebayo passed late Kobe Bryant to net the second highest points ever in a single NBA game.

Aside from giving Adebayo the night’s biggest number for his historic haul against Washington Wizards, Tom and Dan also gave him third spot for drawing 26 personal fouls and number four for getting 22 three-point attempts.

Their accolades came after Adebayo shot into the history books on Tuesday night, as he passed Bryant’s 81 points, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 points, as the Nigerian-born star led Miami to a 150-129 win over The Wiz.

Adebayo also achieved the highest single-point total since Luka Dončić recorded 73 in 2024 and he now holds the highest total haul by any player who is not retired but still active in the NBA.

A report by Yahoo Sports noted, “Adebayo tossed up 22 three-point attempts, the third-most attempts in NBA history (he converted just seven of those attempts, but that was a career high).

“Mind-boggingly, Adebayo also went 36-of-43 from the free-throw line. Those 43 attempts and 36 makes are both new NBA records, as The Heat followed through to the fullest, feeding Bam and allowing him to carry a 57.5% usage rate. 57.5!

“Finally, his week-winning performance in fantasy basketball. Adebayo’s final stat line of 83 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals equated to 110 points in High Score — a new record for the top performance this season.”

Sports247 gathered further that Adebayo, whose previous career high was 41 points, is only the 11th player in NBA history to record a 70-point game, and he is one of just six active players to do so.

His final points of the third quarter, which he got on a breakaway one-handed dunk, broke the franchise single-game scoring record previously set by LeBron James and matched Bryant’s play-by-play era record through three periods.

Adebayo, who entered the night averaging 18.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season, his ninth with the Heat, declared: “To be 83 and passing (Bryant), in my mind, it’s like, what would he say to me?

“I’ve always wanted to have a conversation with him. He’ll probably say, ‘Go do it again.’ Just a surreal moment being in the company with somebody that you idolized growing up.”
