BAL Introduces Multi-Country Format to Deepen Continental Engagement — Amadou Fall

Speaking on the development, Fall explained that the BAL’s growth has been deliberate, moving from a single host site in its early days to a broader continental presence.

“I think the goal is to really perfect the model,” Fall said. “We started from a single site in 2021, and then we went to three sites in 2022 and 2023. Obviously, the goal has always been to expand the footprint.”

For the league’s sixth season, BAL games will now be staged across South Africa and Morocco, with the finals scheduled to take place in Rwanda between March and May, a move designed to bring the competition closer to fans in different regions.

According to Fall, the introduction of three conferences is not just about logistics, but about strengthening the league’s connection with communities across the continent.

“These three conferences are going to give us another opportunity to deepen our engagement,” he added.

The BAL boss emphasized that the long-term vision is to grow basketball culture across Africa, using the league as a platform to increase visibility, fan participation, and investment in the sport.

With the expanded format now confirmed, the upcoming season is expected to offer broader exposure for clubs, players, and host nations, as the BAL continues its mission of transforming professional basketball on the continent.
