Sports247 gathered that the BFN has already set in motion plans for the Lagos International Badminton Championship in August, after which all legs will move to Abia State capital, Umuahia, for two continental contests, while the national open will also have to be accommodated along the way.

Orbih disclosed, “I’m beginning to think that the time is not even enough for us to be able to do what we plan to do. We have two international para-badminton championships in Umuahia, and they are the first it its kind for us.

“We’ve never hosted any international para-event or the Africa continental championship. But, this year, we are doing those two back-to-back. The Lagos International is also coming up at the end of August.”

In spite of the busy schedule ahead and his anxiety about how to get everything done successfully, Orbih disclosed further that the national championship also has to be accommodated, considering that it has been left comatose for a while.

“We have a lot on our hands, but we also want to look at having our national championship; which has not been very active of recent and we want to bring it back,” Orbih disclosed.

Sports247 checks revealed that, after the Lagos Badminton Open in August, Umuahia will come alive for the 1st Abia State International Para-badminton Championship from September 30 to October 5; to be followed immediately by the All Africa Para-badminton Championship from October 6 to 12.
