The First Phase of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) School Development Programme concluded in Lagos State, with Badagry Grammar School being the last beneficiary.
This initiative, supported by CAF and implemented through the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), aimed to foster football development among young students and equip them with the essential resources to thrive in the sport.
The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) wrapped up the programme with a visit to Badagry Grammar School, where they received a warm welcome from the school officials.
The delegation was led by LSFA Assistant Secretary Kayode Okunoye, alongside Steven Degboe, Leader of the Badagry Coaches Council, and Abel Sohe, Director of Programs for the Badagry Divisional Football Association.
During the visit to Badagry Grammar School, Games Master Oguntade Charles expressed his appreciation to CAF, NFF, and LSFA for choosing the school as a beneficiary of the programme.
He emphasized the institution’s commitment to integrating education with sports, highlighting the students’ talents and accomplishments in various athletic activities.
The administration and students of the school were excited about the footballs provided, which will significantly enhance their football development programme.
Mrs. Ojora Adebimpe Adedayo, Senior Principal of Badagry Grammar School, expressed her excitement.
“We are delighted to receive this generous donation of footballs from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) via the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA).”
“This initiative will certainly uplift our students’ spirits and improve our football development programme. We are grateful for the contributions of CAF, NFF, and LSFA in advancing football development in Lagos State, and we anticipate ongoing collaboration to cultivate our students’ talents,” she further stated.
Badagry Grammar School has produced distinguished alumni who have achieved success in various sectors, including Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), the current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and Hon Bonu Solomon Sannu, a current member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Badagry Constituency 1.
Other prominent former students include Alhaja Salmot Badru (Nee Jatu), the former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, and Chief Eng Toyin Adeyinka, Group Chairman of Spark Light Nig Ltd.
The CAF School Development Programme has positively influenced Badagry Grammar School, offering students opportunities to hone their skills and potentially emerge as future football stars. Additionally, the programme has reinforced the bond between the school and the football association, setting the stage for future partnerships.
The LSFA’s visit to Badagry Grammar School signified the conclusion of a successful program, which also included Igbobi College and Epe Grammar School as beneficiaries of the CAF and NFF initiative.
