Ayo Dosunmu Moves To Timberwolves In USA’s NBA

Nigerian-born fast-rising star, Ayo Dosunmu has completed an unexpected transfer from Chicago Bulls to Minnesota Timberwolves in USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA).

Sports247 gathered that, in what has been tagged a massive overhaul at Bulls, the Chicago-based side decided to ship out Dosunmu alongside several other fringe players in their franchise.

The Bulls got really busy at the end of the week in shipping out Dosunmu, Kevin Huerter, Dario Šarić and a 2026 first-round protected pick in one three-team deal, while also sending two-time All-Star Nikola Vučević to Boston Celtics.

After trading Coby White to Hornets on Thursday, The Bulls transfered Dosunmu to The Timberwolves in exchange for Rob Dillingham and Leonard Miller, while also adding nine second-round picks.

This marks a change in status for Dosunmu, who was drafted by his hometown Bulls in the second round in 2021 out of Illinois and was named to the All-Rookie team, but he will not continue his fifth season in Chicago.

Timberwolves now expect to get the best out of Dosunmu, who is averaging a career-high 15 points per game, plus 3 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 45 games (10 starts) this season, shooting 51.4% from the field and 45.1% from 3-point range.

Sports247 gathered further that the Nigerian-born youngster, whose full name is Quamdeen Ayopo Dosunmu, played college basketball for Illinois Fighting Illini, where he got first-team All-American honors in his junior season.

The 26-year-old star departs Chicago after starring at nearby Morgan Park in high school, playing collegiately at Illinois and joining The Bulls as a second-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
