Minnesota Timberwolves’ Nigerian-born youngster, Ayo Dosunmu missed his team’s historic outing against Houston Rockets in USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA), as the rising guard was ruled out with an injury.
Sports247 gathered that 26-year-old Dosunmu missed the epochal game against Houston due to a right calf injury, which initially saw him listed as questionable, but the key contributor was later completely ruled out.
The Timberwolves then had to rely on other roster options, as Dosunmu added to the continued absence of Anthony Edwards, but their team still won the game at Target Center 110-108 in overtime.
Dosunmu, who was sidelined with soreness in his right calf, had previously played a key role during a strong stretch for the team he joined just earlier this year, but he was absent, as The Wolves completed an unprecedented comeback.
They did that by erasing a 13-point deficit in overtime to stun The Rockets, who scored the first 13 points in overtime, then Minnesota hit 15 straight in front of a raucous crowd, joined by Dosunmu in the stands.
It was a sore miss for Dosunmu, who has averaged 13.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for The Wolves since joining them from Chicago Bulls on trade deadline day, after which he went on to pick significant minutes off the bench.
He has started in just four of the 18 games he has played for Minnesota, all of which have been in the past four fixtures without Edwards, who also remains out with inflammation in his knee.
Sports247 gathered that Dosunmu had earlier been a vital piece for The Wolves when they stunned Boston Celtics on Sunday, as he finished the evening with 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists, one steal, and two blocks.
