Forest took the lead early in the contest through Igor Jesus, who found the net in the 12th minute with a composed right-footed finish.
The goal was well-worked, with fellow Nigerian Ola Aina playing a key role in creating the opening, underlining Forest’s sharp start to the game.
Brentford pushed for a response after the break, but Forest remained organised and disciplined. Head coach’s decision to introduce Taiwo Awoniyi in the 68th minute, replacing Igor Jesus, proved inspired.
The 28-year-old striker brought energy and physical presence to the attack, stretching the home side’s defence.
Awoniyi sealed the victory in the 79th minute, calmly slotting home with his right foot after being set up by Morgan Gibbs-White.
The goal not only capped a strong cameo from the Nigerian forward but also relieved pressure on Forest in a tense relegation battle.
The win on the road represents a significant boost for Nottingham Forest as they fight to move clear of the relegation zone.
It also highlights the growing influence of Nigerian players in the squad, with both Awoniyi and Aina playing important roles on the night.
