The very best of youth football was on display last weekend at Ogijo Community School, Ogun State, as semi-final matches of the ongoing Awo Youth Cup 2025 took centre stage, Sports247 reports.

The first match to kick off the last four stages in the competition sponsored by a Belgium-based former footballer, Emmanuel Olakunle Awosanmi, had Mighty Blaster up against Awoniyi FC in the U17 category.
It turned out to be an end to end contest, with Samson Ogbaji netting in the 18th minute for Mighty Blaster to earn his team victory and a ticket to this weekend’s final.
In the second game of the day, two quick second half goals from a substitute, 13-shirted Dami Ifemosun gave dominant Boca Jnr a 2-1 victory over Rehoboth FC, who got a consolation goal through Seun Fabiyi.
The clash between Sunshine FC and Better Tomorrow in the U13 category kicked off proceedings for Sunday, in what turned out to be an end-to-end attacking game of beautiful football.
Both sides created loads of chances but failed to convert any and the game went straight into penalties, after regulation time ended goalless.
Sunshine then edged the tight encoubter 5-4 to book a spot in Sunday’s final, which is also scheduled to hold at the same venue.
In the second U13 semi-final, Buequenson ended the dream of Mighty Blaster in a very entertaining game that they won 1-0, even as both teams delighted spectators with the very best of expressive and expansive football.
In the U17 category, Golden Jubilee lost 1-0 to Golden Dollar, while the day’s star fixture saw captain fantastic, Taiwo Idris score a brace in a 3-0 win for his side.
Idris also provided an assist for Akiwalere Tosin to net their team’s third goal, as Hatlomar comfortably beat Golden Jubilee to secure a spot in the December 14th final against Boca Jnr.
