The Oluyole Warriors secured all three points thanks to a decisive 71st-minute strike from Adegoke, ending Bendel Insurance’s impressive nine-game unbeaten run and delighting the home supporters.

Speaking after the game, Coach Aweroro admitted his side dominated proceedings and could have won by a wider margin, but praised Bendel Insurance’s defensive organization.

“Our opponents were very lucky,” Aweroro said. “We planned to score two or more goals in this game. Bendel Insurance are a very defensive team, and you can’t score against them anyhow because they play a very direct and disciplined game.”

Despite the narrow scoreline, the 3SC coach expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, highlighting their patience, structure, and persistence in breaking down a stubborn opponent.

Match-winner Qamar Adegoke, who calmly converted the decisive goal in the 71st minute, also spoke about his resurgence and growing bond with the fans.

The midfielder acknowledged that the past weeks had been challenging but credited hard work and belief for his turnaround.

“A few weeks ago, I was counted out, but now the fans love me,” Adegoke said. “I’m grateful for their support, and I want them to expect more from this team and from me.”

The victory boosts Shooting Stars’ confidence as the NPFL season enters a crucial phase, with the Ibadan-based side aiming to build momentum and climb further up the table, backed by renewed belief from players and supporters alike.
