Awe, known for her elegance, intelligence, and leadership acumen, has played a pivotal role in building and leading high-performing teams within the club.
Her efforts have significantly enhanced the operations and overall performance of both the football club and its academy wing.
GreenLock Football Academy operates from the Navy Town Sports Centre, a facility equipped with modern training amenities and accommodations that promote a safe, comfortable, and productive environment for player development.
The academy’s official launch is slated for August 31st in Lagos, and according to Awe, it promises to stand out through its holistic and player-centered model.
“GreenLock Football Academy distinguishes itself in Nigeria through its comprehensive approach to player development,” Awe said. “We emphasize technical skills, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, mental preparation, and educational support.”
She further elaborated on the academy’s core philosophy of nurturing well-rounded individuals.
“Our structured programs include personalized coaching, fitness and mental toughness training, soccer picnics, excursions, fun games, nutritious meals, and academic support. We’re not just creating footballers; we’re building future leaders,” she said.
GreenLock FA also prioritizes player welfare and educational advancement. From mental health resources to nutrition plans and top-tier medical care, the academy ensures that its athletes are physically and emotionally fit to perform.
Academic programs are integrated into training routines, with special initiatives like French language classes aimed at preparing players for international exposure.
“We want our players to have options beyond football. Learning French, for instance, prepares them for life abroad,” Awe added.
Competitive exposure is another cornerstone of the academy’s mission. GreenLock FA regularly features in both local and international tournaments, providing players with invaluable experience and visibility.
“We host yearly tournaments in Europe to expose our players to various competitive environments. This, alongside our continuous coach education programs, ensures we stay ahead with modern training techniques and strategies,” Awe noted.
The academy also boasts a strategic and expansive scouting network that spans both urban and rural Nigeria.
“We have a robust talent identification system backed by international partnerships. Our scouts work across the country to find hidden gems who might otherwise go unnoticed,” she said.
Currently, GreenLock Football Academy maintains active partnerships with clubs like Antalyaspor (Turkey), FC Liria (Kosovo), and Gulf United FC (UAE). Over nine players from the academy are presently showcasing their talent internationally through these collaborations.
“These partnerships give our players exposure to diverse playing styles and coaching systems, helping them adapt and excel at the global level,” Awe said.
Beyond the pitch, GreenLock FA is also deeply engaged with local communities to promote grassroots football and build a sustainable talent pipeline.
“We are investing in the future of Nigerian football by connecting with local communities and nurturing talent from the ground up,” Awe concluded.
With its strategic focus on holistic development, international exposure, and grassroots engagement, GreenLock Football Academy is poised to become a major player in shaping Nigeria’s next generation of football stars
