“As for smoking, I don’t really smoke but I drink a lot – Victor Agali

Former Nigerian forward and Delta Force Coach, Victor Agali has given insights into his career, personal life, AS Racing NNL promotion and why he came back to Nigeria to give back to the country which have given him so much despite Germany’s bumper offer.

The National team scout while answering fielded online questions revealed about himself, “there are really not a lot of things that the public did not know about me because am a person who spends time with grassroots development and meet a lot of friends.

There is nothing hidden about me and as for my food, I have no preference because I have travelled alot in my career because you have no choice than to adapt. So after football, I do a lot of African food my wife makes for me, it’s been a lot of fun”.

“As for smoking, I don’t really smoke but I drink a lot because sometimes Alcohol help cool the nerves. When I was young I love beautiful women but after the marriage, I have to change somethings and be serious with life”.

On the clubs he has coached ever since his return back to the country, the former Schalke man said, “I have always been with two clubs in Nigeria which is AS Racing and Delta Force. After my coaching course in Germany, I came back to Nigeria though I was offered a job back in Germany to handle a youth team but I needed to come back home and make impact. I met with some of my friends like Emmanuel Hebrew in Racing and I started handling the team from Amateaur 1 to the NNL and at the end of the season we were relegated back to Amateaur and at the end of the season. I was offered to Delta Force which I coached and for reason dispelled and came back to As Racing. So I have a partnership with my Academy and AS Racing and we try to play along by grooming talents for European markets”.

“I am now a Coach after my playing career. The passion and love for the game has brought me this far, staying in the game after playing is great, I have my Coaching license from Germany and have been in Nigeria coaching for 4 years now. It’s really a good time”.

“The only club I didn’t stay long is Delta Force and it’s simply because of understanding. I came from a different form of football and I tried to establish that but there were too many bottle necks there. There are some things you can’t change and have no choice than to move on. What I have there is different from what have been taught hence going back to AS Racing”, he explained.

“I am very grateful yo be given the honor to play for this country, I gained a lot of things and talking about giving back to the country, on my own side, I have all opportunity to stay in Germany but it took me a lot to convince my wife to stay in Nigeria because I want to be involved with the youth”

“Knowing fully well that training ground facilities is one major factor. So I went to Badagry to get land for training ground through the help of AS Racing and discover talents, enrol them in school and mentor them. Captain of the Anambra U-15 team is with me and that’s the best way I can give for now through have been with the National team as a scout and most expenses on my personal pocket. It’s a great honor even when I have to foot my bills, I don’t expect refund and that’s the little I can give till I can do more”, Agali remarked.
