Arthur Okonkwo’s Own Goal Paves Way For Chelsea’s Victory Over Wrexham

Wrexham United of England goalkeeper, Arthur Nwankwo’s aim at a 10th clean sheet in action for the English Championship side did not materialize on Saturday, as he conceded an own goal and three others against Chelsea.

Sports247 reports that most previews and analyses of the FA Cup encounter revolved around Okonkwo, who recently committed his international future to playing for Nigeria at full senior level, as he has been in stunning form of late.

However, his heroics for the premotion chasing second-tier outfit fell short against the visitors, as Wrexham twice led but failed to hold out till the very end against The Blues, who won with a fourth goal in added time.

While Okonkwo initially looked solid in goal against Chelsea, Sam Smith hit home the opener, set up by Callum Doyle, who scored Wrexham’s second after an own-goal by the Nigerian shot-stopper.

Okonkwo and his teammates, who were spurred on by Wrexham’s high-profile owners from Hollywood, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, could not stop Josh Acheampong forcing extra-time before Alejandro Garnacho’s winner.
