A remarkable evening of stopping penalty kicks against Nottingham Forest in the English FA Cup has seen Wrexham goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo gain sweet words from one of the club’s former players.

Sports247 reports that Okonkwo, who recently switched allegiance from England to Nigeria at senior level, was the undisputed hero at the weekend, as his agility between the sticks stopped Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina from progressing.
Dramatically, Okonkwo’s theatrics against Forest came 21 days after his error sank Wrexham at the feet of Swansea City before Christmas, leaving his North Wales side seven points and nine spots outside the Championship’s play-off places.
Since that nightmare day, though, Okonkwo’s form has helped The Red Dragons win four successive second-tier matches for the first time in their history, followed by their conquest of Forest in the FA Cup.
Okonkwo saved spot-kicks from Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson to propel Phil Parkinson’s squad into a 4-3 win after a 3-3 draw at the end of extra time, for which he has gained plaudits from former Wrexham midfielder, Wayne Phillips.
Phillips was reeling lyrical for the 24-year-old former Arsenal youth team goalkeeper, who also made seven saves in helping Wrexham defeat a top-flight opponent for the first time since 1999.
“I’m so happy for Arthur. It was only a few weeks ago people were on his back for his mistake at Swansea, which led to Wrexham losing in injury time. But he’s more than made up for that with his saves.” Phillips told BBC Radio Cymru.
