Anunoby Takes NBA All Stars Weekend By Storm

Another Nigerian-born youngster is taking America’s National Basketball Association (NBA) by storm, as the cynosure of all eyes, following the 2019 All Star Weekend, is on Ogugua Anunoby Jr.

Fondly called ‘OG’ by basketball fans and pundits alike, sports247.ng can report that the latest kid on the block, born July 17, 1997, is registered as a British player by The Raptors, after arriving from Indiana Hoosiers.

Anunoby was the main attraction during the Rising Stars game on Friday night, one where Los Angeles Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma led all scorers with 35 points on the way to MVP honours and the US team defeating the World squad 161-144.

Anunoby chipped in with 12 points during 18 minutes of action off the bench for Team World, while Tatum added 30 points for the US as the teams combined for 37 three-pointers, 55 dunks and shot a combined 12 free throws.

Also present was Josh Okogie in almost comical fashion, along with Brooklyn’s D’Angelo Russell, Phoenix’s Devin Booker and San Antonio’s Danny Green.

Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns was courtside in a world jersey to represent for Okogie, his Timberwolves team-mate.

A pre-game moment of silence was held immediately before the Canadian and US national anthems in honor of the victims of the shooting in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, Illinois earlier on Friday.
