The fatal accident that former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Olaseni Oluwafemi Joshua survived in Ogun State has been cited as the biggest motivation that made one of his biggest rivals, Tyson Fury come out of retirement.
Sports247 reports that Fury, fondly called ‘The Gypsy King,’ revealed this himself, as the bulky British pugilist, who is also a former world champ, said he suddenly realized that ‘life is very short’ and has to keep doing what he loves.

This is in stark contrast with his declaration at the start of 2025, when Fury surprisingly announced that he would retire from boxing, but he is now storming back to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11th in London.
He made the disclosure during a press conference at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, where Fury explained how hearing about Joshua’s escape, and the death of two close friends of his rival, inspired his return.
Fury added that learning how Joshua’s friends and members of his training team – Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele – were killed stirred something in him, about making the best of things he loves most in life.
“The biggest turning point in this comeback for me was the tragedy that happened with Anthony Joshua. I was on holiday in Thailand with my family for Christmas, just to get away from the rain.
“I hear all that bad news that’s gone on and I thought, you know what, life is very short, very precious and very fragile. I made my mind up there and then that I’m going to come back to boxing.
“It’s something that I love and I’m passionate about. There is no tomorrow to put it off. That’s why I’m back for this big fight,” Fury said philosophically, as he prepares to tango the Russia-based Canadian.
