Nigerian-born former two-time world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Olaseni Oluwafemi Joshua has regained his ‘rock solid’ physical shape ahead of his bout with Albania’s Kristian Prenga on the 25th of this month, which will be his first fight since knocking out USA’s Jake Paul in December.
Sports247 reports that it will also be Joshua’s first appearance back in the roped square after surviving a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends near Sagamu, Ogun State on December 29th, and which almost put an end to his boxing career.
However, after mourning his pals for over six months, ‘AJ’ is back in rigorous training and the London 2012 Olympic Games gold medalist is knocking his body into peak shape, even better than it used to be at the height of his reign as champ of the world.
Joshua is already back to his physical best eight months after the accident that he miraculously escaped with minor injuries but lost two of his childhood pals, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, as both men, who also served in his fitness crew, died on the spot, after the SUV they were travelling in hit a stationary truck.
‘AJ’ now appears to be in tremendous shape, as seen in photograps posted from Valencia, Spain – where he is working out with Oleksandr Usyk’s crew – and Joshua added a short caption from the training camp: “A message to everyone going through tough times! We shall overcome.”
Sports247 reports further that the 36-year-old Joshua has also signed up to tango fellow-British heavyweight, Tyson Fury in November, but the 37-year-old ‘Gypsy King’ will first take on 46-year-old Mariusz Wach in Thailand next month.
