While Joshua believes he is good to go and ready to step into the roped square, Usyk disclosed that doctors have already told the former two-time unified heavyweight champ that he must not rush himself back.
The 36-year-old Joshua has been training at Usyk’s camp in Kiev, where he recently attended a boxing event packaged by the current champ, who disclosed that his guest has not recovered fully for the accident he survived in December 29th.
Joshua released a video on social media, depicting himself in a strenuous fitness drill, appearing to be in top shape as he trains for his espied return to the ring, while hitting the punching bag in what he referred to as ‘the best way to heal.’
However, while ‘AJ’ looked fit and trim, much to the delight of his coaches, Usyk, who has twice beaten the London 2012 Olympic Games gold medalist, warned that his rival and pal still has a long way to go for full fight level.
Usyk told UK’s Daily Mail: “I think he’s getting better. From what I see, Anthony is training well, but the doctor says, ‘Please, take it slowly, not too fast yet. Take your time.’
“So, physically he’s good, but he needs more time to fully heal. Mentally, I think he’s good too, because we talk every day. We train twice a day, morning and evening, and we’re always talking constantly.”
