AMG Sports Academy Dare Ikorodu City, Seamoriow, Others In Discovery Cup 2026

Gbagada-baded AMG Sports Academy will commence action at this year’s edition of Discovery Cup on Monday with high intentions of upstaging some big teams in their group, Sports247 reports.

The team owned by an electrical installation and mechanical equipment entrepreneur, Adejumo Raji will begin their campaign for the trophy against Auston FC with high hopes of getting victory in their first game at Inspire Sports Complex, Oshodi, Lagos.

Other teams in their group are Seamoriow Football Academy, Box-2-Box FC, and the junior team of Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) campaigners, Ikorodu City.

Incidentally, Monday’s match comes so soon after AMG lost their last game of the N-Youth League 3-2 at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, but Raji said there’s no cause for alarm.

He added, “We lost that match because it was our last game of the season and the coach decided to rest his key players. We felt it was good giving others a chance to play.

“Despite the defeat, we finished eight on the table out of 15 teams. So, it was not a bad performance for us. Our target is to expose the boys, not be desperate for winning.

“We are now turning our attention on the Discovery Cup, which starts on Monday. It’s another opportunity for us to showcase our players at a scouting competition and see how we can market some of our talents.”
