Speaking at the ceremony, Akeredolu said the resolution of internal disputes within the federation has opened a new chapter, allowing stakeholders to focus fully on development and growth.

“This is an exciting moment for American football in Nigeria,” Akeredolu said. “With the issues behind us, we can now work together for the greater good of the sport.”

He credited the intervention of the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, for helping to resolve the leadership crisis that previously stalled progress within the federation.

“The support of the National Sports Commission has been crucial,” he added. “Now that the board is united, our focus is on grassroots development, capacity building and expanding opportunities for young Nigerians.”

Akeredolu emphasized that Nigeria has the talent and population to become a strong force in American football, provided there is proper planning and cooperation among stakeholders.

“We want to build a sustainable structure that gives young athletes a pathway into the sport,” he noted. “This is just the beginning, and the future is very bright.”

The inauguration formally signals a fresh start for American football in Nigeria, with expectations that stability and collaboration will drive the sport’s growth nationwide.
