President of All-Stars International FC Surulere, Mojeed Adegbindin, has shared insights into the club’s enduring legacy and values following their 1–0 defeat to Island All Stars International Sports Club in a friendly return match.
Adegbindin, a former board member of the Lagos State Football Association and current member of the NFF Protocol and Ceremonial Committee, reflected on the spirit of the game, emphasizing the importance of maintaining camaraderie, discipline, and joy among the club’s members—many of whom are ex-internationals and professionals across different fields.

“Today wasn’t just about the scoreline,” he told Sports247. “It’s about keeping the fire of football alive in us and helping veterans enjoy the game they once played at the highest level. When you’re happy, it strengthens life and gives you longevity.”
Despite the loss, Adegbindin expressed disappointment at the approach taken by their opponents, describing their style of play as overly aggressive.
“We’re gentlemen. We don’t want to get injured by someone pushing or hitting us. That’s not the spirit of All-Stars,” he stated. “We play for fun and fairness, not for fights or reckless tackles.”
Celebrating the club’s rich history, Adegbindin noted that All-Stars International Surulere is Nigeria’s foremost All-Stars team, existing for over 45 years with a home ground that seats up to 1,000 spectators. The club has grown to become a home for professionals from all walks of life—including doctors, lawyers, businessmen, and ex-professional footballers like Victor Aghali and Festus Odini.
“Our strength is in discipline and integrity,” he said. “These values reflect not just in how we play but in how we succeed in life. Many of our members have become ministers, governors, commissioners—these are the things that drive us forward.”
The president reaffirmed the club’s commitment to unity, fair play, and personal growth through football, reminding all stakeholders that All-Stars football goes far beyond the pitch.
