According to the commission, hosting the Games reflects President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to positioning Nigeria as a preferred destination for major international sporting events, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda for the nation’s sports economy.

The initiative aims to upgrade sports infrastructure, boost athlete participation and strengthen Nigeria’s global engagement in the para sports sector.

Officials disclosed that accommodation, transportation, venue readiness, medical support, accreditation procedures, media operations, security arrangements, volunteer mobilisation and classification facilities have all reached advanced stages.

The Local Organising Committee also reaffirmed that Abeokuta is prepared to deliver a world-class event that will showcase athletic excellence while celebrating the hospitality and cultural heritage of Ogun State.

President of the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria, Sunday Odebode, commended the National Sports Commission for its coordination and expressed confidence in the progress made so far.

He described the Games as a defining moment for para sports in the sub-region.

“These Games represent a new dawn for para sports in West Africa,” Odebode said.

“The commitment shown by the NSC and the LOC gives us full confidence that Nigeria will set a benchmark for future editions. Our athletes are ready, the organisers are ready, and we look forward to a historic opening day.”

Odebode added that the competition will strengthen regional cooperation and broaden competitive opportunities for para athletes across Africa.
