Aliyu Zubairu, Gbenga Ogunbote to Lead One-Day Coaching Clinic for Grassroots Football Coaches in Kwara

Plans have been finalized for a one-day football coaching seminar in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, aimed at equipping grassroots football coaches with modern techniques and tactical knowledge.

The seminar, proudly organized and sponsored by the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, Aliyu Zubairu, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Kwara Football Academy, beginning at 8:00am.

Joining Coach Zubairu as a key facilitator is veteran tactician Gbenga Ogunbote, bringing decades of experience to the initiative.

The clinic will feature two focused sessions:

“Typical Match Analysis and Evaluation” by Coach Aliyu Zubairu

“How to Develop a Player Technically” by Coach Gbenga Ogunbote

The one-day seminar will include both theoretical and practical sessions. Participants were selected through a rigorous application and screening process to ensure that only committed and promising grassroots coaches benefit from the experience.

Speaking ahead of the event, Coach Zubairu emphasized the importance of investing in local coaching talent.

“Our focus is not only to train coaches but to inspire excellence in them. We believe the knowledge acquired will translate into their job in training and producing the next generation of football talents that will make the country proud,” he said.

The coaching seminar will culminate in the grand finale of the second edition of Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s U15 Football Tournament.
The day’s matches will include:

Third-place match at 3:00 p.m. between Barca Kiddies (winners of the inaugural edition) and Gidado FA

Final match at 4:00 p.m. between Future Stars and Gaa Akanbi Kids

A total of 20 teams and over 400 young players participated in the tournament, which was designed to unearth budding football talents at the grassroots level.

Top dignitaries, football stakeholders, and scouts are expected to attend the grand finale at the Kwara Football Academy.

This twin-event — the coaching seminar and the youth tournament — reflects Coach Zubairu’s enduring commitment to giving back to the community and promoting sustainable football development from the grassroots.
