Alimosho League: IGU Coach Slams Players Despite Away Victory Against NISSI

After 1-0 slim victory recorded against NISSI Football Club, Chief Coach of Iyaloja General United, IGU, Mohammed Aberejo has slammed his players for playing below expectations in week one of the Alimosho football Coaches Council League.

The encounter was held on Thursday at the Ejigbo sports center, Lagos. The league is being sponsored by Owu sportswear, one of the foremost sports manufacturing companies in Nigeria.

Aberejo who remained standing throughout the encounter told our correspondent that his team was lucky to have claimed the three points at stake noting that his team’s performance in the second half was nothing to write home about.

“Of course we won but for me, my players did not play to my instructions. We were under pressure in the second half because they gave the rooms for such. I expected a good game from them, unfortunately, they did not live up to my expectations but I still want to commend them for winning the game,” he said.

Aberejo said he would work on some grey areas in the team before their next match and applauded their opponents for giving them a good fight especially in the second half of the game.

NISSI coach, Alfred Unoke expressed satisfaction with his players despite the home defeat. He said his team would have salvaged a draw or win the game if they were able to convert their scoring chances in the second half.

“It was a good game despite we lost narrowly to our opponents. We were better in the second half but unfortunately, we could not convert our scoring chances,” he said.

Habeeb Bello scored in the 8th minute for IGU to give them three points. IGU would have scored their second goal but NISSI goalie, Hammed Ajibade who adjudged man of the match saved a penalty kick awarded to visiting team.

The second half was tougher as the home team gave a good account of themselves. They put pressure on their opponents but their poor finishing in the goal area denied them from scoring before the referee blew the final whistle.

In another match played on Thursday, Flying Wing failed to fly as they played 1-1 with Newtown G FC at their home ground. Kedge Sports recorded a 1-0 home win against Bucknor FC.

Two matches have lined up today as Leyenda FC faces ECAS FC, while HTU FC host KOTECH FA at Alade sports center, Ipaja Command, Lagos.
