The new president of National Institute for Sports (NIS) students’ union, Alhaja Adejoke Baruwa has revealed a plan to have Nigerian legends visit the training centre and deliver motivational speeches that would motivate the scholars.
Sports247 reports that Baruwa revealed the plan while speaking during her inauguration by NIS director-general, Honourable Comrade Philip Shuaibu, who tasked the new leadership to fully support ongoing reforms at the institute.
In response to the charge by Shaibu, Baruwa said, “I am deeply humbled and honoured to be inaugurated as the first-ever female President of the Student Union Government in the history of the National Institute for Sports.
“This victory does not belong to me alone. It belongs to every student who believes that leadership is defined by vision, not by gender. We must recognize the weight of this moment. We are the Pioneer Set of the Renewed Hope for the NIS.
“Our administration is built on three unbreakable pillars of the elite standard and a conducive learning environment. We are working with management to ensure our classrooms – from seating to lighting – reflect prestige of a national institute.
“We will bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry reality by bringing legends of Nigerian sports to mentor the next generation. We will raise the bar of engagements, discipline and output so that when an NIS student speaks, the world listens.”
