AKWA UTD BID EMOTIONAL FAREWELL TO CHIDI OFO OKENWA

The top management staff of Akwa United Football Club made a conspicuous appearance in Enugu and joined other well-wishers and sympathizers from across the country to bid an emotional farewell to the late Enugu State Football Association Chairman, Honourable Chidi Ofo Okenwa on Friday.

Late Chidi Ofo Okenwa, until his death was the Chairman, Nigeria National League NNL and also a Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF. He slept in the Lord on 5th May 2020 after a brief illness.

In a tribute at the funeral service, the leader of Akwa United delegation Sir Emmanuel Udoh described the death of Honourable Chidi Ofo Okenwa as a great loss to the entire football family in Nigeria and Enugu State in particular.

“Late Honourable Chidi Ofo Okenwa was a true sportsman, I have known and worked with him for many years. He was a big friend and supporter of Akwa United FC and that is why we are here to pay our last respect to him. It’s sad that he is gone. On behalf of Akwa United FC, I pray God to console his family and grant his soul eternal rest”.

Late Chidi Ofo Okenwa was laid to rest on Friday at his home town in Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Other management staff who represented Akwa United at the funeral were; Secretary, Comrade Omon Bassey, Welfare Officer, Mr. Asuquo Samuel and the Media Manager Mr. Mfon Patrick.
