In a formal petition dated February 9, 2026, and signed by his legal representative, the player accused the Uyo-based club of deliberately defaulting on payment obligations despite an earlier ruling by the NFF arbitration body.
According to the letter addressed to the Secretary of the NFF PSAC, Akwa United failed to meet an agreed payment deadline of December 31, 2025, even though the debt has been outstanding for more than 12 months.
The petition further questioned the committee’s earlier decision to accept a November 2025 payment proposal from Akwa United for a debt that reportedly fell due in February 2025, noting that the arrangement was approved without the player’s consent.
“This is strange to legal jurisprudence,” the player’s representatives stated, insisting that the club’s conduct amounts to misleading the arbitration body and bringing the committee into disrepute.
The claimant is now calling on the NFF Players’ Status/Arbitration Committee to intervene urgently and impose appropriate sanctions on Akwa United for continued non-compliance with its rulings.
The letter warned that continued silence on the matter could undermine the credibility of the arbitration process, stressing that the claimant remains apprehensive about the lack of enforcement.
As of the time of filing this report, Akwa United FC and the Nigeria Football Federation have yet to issue an official response to the petition.
