New Super Eagles invitee Akor Adams has expressed immense excitement after linking up with his teammates in Polokwane, South Africa, ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
The powerful striker, who recently joined Sevilla FC in Spain from French side Montpellier, described his call-up to the senior national team as a “dream realized” and said he’s eager to make a lasting impression in Nigeria’s forward line.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling to be here,” Akor said shortly after arriving at camp. “Every player hopes for this opportunity, and I’m grateful to be part of such a talented group. The competition for places is intense, but that only motivates me to give everything I’ve got.”
Akor’s rise has been swift and impressive. Since moving to Europe, he has consistently caught attention with his physical presence, aerial ability, and relentless work ethic. His performances in France before his move to La Liga earned him a reputation as one of Africa’s emerging strikers.
Now, at Sevilla, the 24-year-old continues to develop his all-round game, and his invitation to the national team is seen as a reward for his hard work and steady growth.
“I’ve learned so much over the past few seasons,” he continued. “I know what it means to wear the green and white jersey — it’s not just football, it’s pride, it’s passion. Whether I play from the start or come off the bench, my goal is to help the team win.”
Akor also praised the positive atmosphere within the camp, describing it as “focused, united, and determined.”
“The energy here is great,” he added. “Everyone is ready to fight for the nation. We know how much these games mean to Nigerians, and we’re ready to give our best.”
As Nigeria prepares for a decisive clash against Lesotho, Akor Adams stands as a symbol of the new generation hungry to restore the Super Eagles’ pride.
