Moments later, Akor Adams, assisted by compatriot Chidera Ejuke, capped off the victory with a composed finish in the 90+6 minute, his first-ever goal against Barcelona.
This is in fulfilment of his statement before kick off,
when asked if he believes he can score against Barcelona, the striker replied confidently, “I think I have the ability to score in every game if I have the opportunities.”
Adams’ strike came just days after receiving his first senior national team invitation, a timely boost for Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of their crucial FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho on October 10 and Benin Republic on October 16.
The 24-year-old forward, who opened his season last weekend in Sevilla 1-0 over Rayo Vallecano continues to prove his form and readiness to lead Nigeria’s attack.
His display was a statement both for Sevilla’s ambitions and for Super Eagles coach Eric Sekou Chelle, who will be counting on in-form strikers in the upcoming qualifiers.
The emphatic win lifted Sevilla’s morale and underlined their growing attacking chemistry, with Ejuke also impressing off the bench.
Barcelona, meanwhile, were left shell-shocked by the hosts’ intensity and efficiency.
Adams is expected to join the Super Eagles camp on Monday as preparations begin for Nigeria’s decisive push for a World Cup ticket.
