In a post-match interview with Sports247, Akinola Damilola shared insights into Tradesafe FC’s approach to the match, highlighting the team’s commitment to organized defending against a confident opponent.

He explained, “In our defending half, we defended well because the team that we are playing with, they are more confident than us by transition and using the ball. So we are more organized in our defence line. Then we go out on them by counter-attack.”
Acknowledging the team’s commitment, especially in defending and counter-attacks, Damilola addressed the numerous chances Tradesafe FC had during the game. Despite losing several opportunities, he attributed the commitment to the game plan and the team’s defensive strategy.
Intriguingly, Tradesafe FC and Ikorodu FC had previously clashed in the final of the LSFA pre-tournament, where Tradesafe emerged as champions.
Damilola shared his thoughts on playing against a familiar opponent, saying, “It was an intense game because we are both familiar with ourselves. So we just went out on ourselves very hard. No too many tackles, we were just defending our halves, each other.”
Expressing optimism despite the draw, Damilola stated, “At least if we couldn’t win the game, we didn’t lose the game. At least we shared the point.” His positive outlook reflects the team’s determination and resilience in securing a result against a challenging opponent.
