Nigeria National League side, Nnewi United defeated Peace F.C 1-0 to win the 16th edition of the Neros Pharmaceuticals Anambra FA Cup on Sunday, 12th June, 2022.

Sixteen teams began the 2022 campaign in the male category but weeded down to just two strongholds after men have separated from boys after 14 matches were played.

The men’s final was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved to Sunday due to heavy downpour saw Nnewi United narrowly pip past Peace Football Club by lone goal to see Nigeria second division club and arguably the biggest name in the competition clinched the title at the Nero Stadium, Nanka, Anambra state on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the winner of the preceding edition of the competition, Aspire F.C of Adazi-Ani thrashed All Stars F.C of Ogbaru 3-0 in the men’s third place match to claim the Bronze medal on Friday.

In the women’s final, Maureen Mmadu Football Kiddies(MMFKC) owned by former Super Falcons midfielder Maureen Mmadu defeated Akwa Angels 1-0 at the Neros Stadium to emerge champions of the 2022 Women’s Neros Pharmaceuticals Anambra FA Cup on Saturday.

Nnewi United were awarded the sum of #2,000,000 for winning the title, earned the bragging right of being the best team in the Anambra state and will represent the state at the 2022 National Aiteo FA Cup finals later this year.
