Aina Happy To Score In Torino’s ‘Crazy’ Match

AS Torino of Italy defender, Ola Aina has reflected on his first goal in Serie A, and says he was happy that he was able to hit target in a bizarre encounter, which he has dubbed ‘crazy match’ against Udinese.

Sports247.ng reports that the Super Eagles full-back, who is on loan from Chelsea of England, made hay in the 31st minute of the match, which was riddled with several spats and negative talking points.

Aina’s header earned Torino a 1-0 win over Udinese in a game that had two disallowed goals, a red card, a missed penalty and 11 minutes of stoppage time.

Despite all the incidents and low points, Aina is glad he was able to make his mark, in a game he also remembers for him, because of the presence of Eagles’ pal, William Troost-Ekong on the opposing end.

Troost-Ekong, who plays alongside Aina in Nigeria’s back-four, was on for 90 minutes with the losing side from Udine, who also had Nigerian-born attacker, Stefano Chuka Okaka on for the duration.

The Nigerian presence in Udinese left Aina talking about emotional attachments to the game, but he stressed that the biggest point for him was his ability to overcome all incidents and hit his first Serie A goal.

Aina’s goal left Torino four points off the Europa League berths, and he admitted: “It was a crazy match, with several decisions made with the VAR, but full of emotions.”
