Forest fell to a 1–0 loss at the City Ground, leaving them with work to do in the return leg. However, Aina believes the team has the determination and quality to overturn the deficit and secure a place in the next round.
The Nigerian international, who has made 19 appearances across all competitions this season, described his experience in European football as both exciting and beneficial—particularly for players competing at that level for the first time.
“I find it really fun. You play different oppositions in Europe, so it’s been good,” Aina said.
He added that adapting to varying styles of play across the continent has helped the squad grow.
“A few of us, including myself, it’s our first time playing in Europe, so it’s been really good.”
Looking ahead to the decisive clash, Aina emphasized the importance of hard work and focus as Forest aim to keep their European campaign alive.
“Hopefully, we can keep it going. We work hard every week. It’s another game where we’ll try to push and progress in the tournament.”
Aina also acknowledged the strength of Midtjylland, singling out former Premier League midfielder Philip Billing as one of their key threats.
“Their team is very balanced. There are standout players—Philip Billing is one everyone knows from the Premier League. He’s a great player.”
Forest will now look to produce a strong performance in the second leg as they attempt to overturn the deficit and book a place in the quarter-finals.
