Nigerian internationals Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will work under yet another manager this season after Nottingham Forest confirmed the dismissal of head coach Sean Dyche amid the club’s ongoing Premier League relegation struggle.

Forest announced on Wednesday that Dyche had been relieved of his duties following a goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, a result that left the Tricky Trees hovering just three points above the drop zone with 12 matches remaining.
In a brief statement, the club thanked Dyche and his backroom staff for their efforts, offering no further details behind the decision.
The 54-year-old departs after just 114 days in charge, having won only two of his last 10 league matches.
The latest managerial change adds to a season of instability at the City Ground and has had a direct impact on Forest’s Nigerian duo.
Aina has been one of the club’s standout performers despite frequent tactical shifts, while Awoniyi has struggled to find consistency amid changing systems and injury interruptions.
Dyche was appointed in October to replace Ange Postecoglou on a contract running until June 2027. He initially steadied the ship and guided Forest out of the relegation zone, but a prolonged dip in form ultimately proved decisive.
Forest’s campaign has been marked by upheaval, with Nuno Espírito Santo dismissed earlier in the season, Postecoglou lasting just 39 days, and Dyche now becoming the third managerial casualty.
For Aina and Awoniyi, uncertainty continues as Forest turn their attention to a Europa League knockout tie against Fenerbahçe, even as domestic struggles persist. The club has already exited both domestic cup competitions.
As the search for a new head coach begins, Forest will be desperate to restore stability and ensure their Nigerian stars play a key role in steering the club clear of relegation.
