Aigbogun: I Remain Proud Of My Boys

Youth national team, Flying Eagles coach, Paul Osahon Aigbogun says he remains proud of his players, despite their inability to reach the final of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic.

While Nigerian soccer fans are disappointed, some even angry, that the team could not beat Mali in Wednesday’s semi-final, Aigbogun insists his lads gave their best and he is proud of what they have achieved.

Sports247.ng reports that Aigbogun has already put the loss to Mali via penalties’ shootout behind him, as he focuses on Saturday’s third place match against South Africa, which he believes his side will win.

It will be a rematch of their second group clash, which ended goalless, but Aigbogun is of a view that it will be a different story in favour of his side this time out, and they will bring bronze back home to Nigeria.

The former Cape Town of South Africa, Warri Wolves of Delta State and Enyimba of Aba handler stressed that his players have not disappointed him so far, and believes they will rise to the occasion against Amajita.

“It was a very difficult match against Mali and we fought as it should but unfortunately for us Mali won.
“We must now focus on the game at hand. I’m proud of the boys and what they have achieved,” Aigbogun stressed.
