Ahmedu: D’Tigress’ 8th place finish a big achievement for Nigeria

Assistant coach of the women’s national team, D’Tigress, Peter Ahmedu has described Nigeria’s outing at the just concluded FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain as a big achievement for the country.

D’Tigress who dusted past some heavyweights in the competition finished 8th and earned admirers for their relentless approach.

“This is the first time that any Nigerian team will go this far in the FIBA World Cup,” Ahmedu started in a chat with Sports247.ng.

“At the end of the competition, D’Tigress placed 8th. This is for the whole country. It’s a massive achievement for Nigeria.”

He appealed to the NBBF to consolidate on the success of setting a new bar for Africa at the World Cup.

“This is the period for the NBBF to ensure it consolidate on the gains recorded at the tournament.”

“We need to raise a new bar for Africa and continue to improve in the quest to get to the top.”

“It’s important for Nigeria to build on the feat achieved in Spain to get even better.”
